Welcome Dr. So Takao

Today, we are happy to welcome So Takao in our group. So is a Research Fellow working on ‘Machine Learning for Climate Science’ at University College London. Prior to joining UCL, So was a Research Assistant at Imperial College London working in the areas of machine learning and stochastic analysis for ocean modelling. Upon obtaining his MSc in Applied Mathematics at Imperial College London, he went on to complete his PhD under Professor Darryl Holm, writing his dissertation on the applications of stochastic geometric mechanics to geophysical fluid dynamics and MCMC methods. Since May 2020, he is part of the Stochastic Transport in Upper Ocean Dynamics (STUOD) group at Imperial College/INRIA/IFREMER, where he is currently investigating the end-to-end learning of variational data assimilation models for ocean modelling.
